The main reason besides money, that this industry became what it is is: Story telling. Creators of deep awesome stories want to share their stories. But there is more to this. The word “interaction” was a major factor behind everything.

Tech evolved to meet this. Most of these creators took it up to create the programs and The tech to meet what was needed. Therefore, Like minds usually flock together. Story writers, movie directors, music creators, ETC. So there you have it. The beginning of Video Games!
The value of the industry of Video Games…
I have been gaming for years upon years. From Atari to Playstation 5 to PSVR2. I game practically everyday. The industry of Video Games is a Hot Topic. It is Greek fire! It will not fade! The value of this awesome industry is valued at as of 2024 worth: $455 Billion.

Let it sink in. And by 2030 it should be closer to $665.77 Billion. It will Survive anything. During Covid 19 Quarantine the numbers skyrocketed! Online interaction was out of this world! Brain Buster!
Advantages of Video Games…..
Video Games have more than the imagined number of advantages. Whether you see it or not, it has given rise to many apps on your phone, consoles and handhelds. So, I believe It is a stress reliever. Also, Going to places never imagined you could visit. Plus Other worlds, cities in our own world, Alternative universes, Back in time the imagination is the limit. And best of all: It is an incredible TOOL!

Games from any point of sight are tools! And guess what, Content Creators know this. God Bless their brains! So the point here is the genre. There are so many. Also My prefered genres are Survival, Simulation, Racing, RPG (role playing Game), Some Shooters, and engineering games.

Everyone is different so to each a niche! Plus interaction or controlling your scenario is the fun part. So the story within the story. Your story!
Stories……
Video Games are storybooks in digital format. And Let’s Be real, who has not wanted to get immersed in a story away from our insane reality? And before anything is said, I mean a break from reality. So do not take the hammer by the head!
Moral teachings….
The stories experienced within video games, have moral teachings depending on the genre. Everyone is different. In addition, Some play to play and others to learn. I play to learn. Therefore have fun while learning. So, That leads me to say that: Video Games: Are A Powerful Tool!
Let us take a look at my favorite Genres
So My choice of genre are:
- First up Survival – A mix of action and simulation resembling real life scenarios. The learning curve can be intense and the survival Focus aspect is the interesting and fun part! Building to defend from nature or anything in general, scavenging organizing, ETC. Makes this a: TOOL!
- Second is Simulation – This has many branches, since genre can be paired or put together. Driving sims, life sims ( like classic game “The Sims”), Truck driving sims, airplane sims, spaceship sims, ETC.
- These are very common in this genre. They highly technical and needs fine handling to be able to have the fun you get from it. The experience and amount of hours train your mind and hands making this a: TOOL!
- Third is Racing – Now this is fun at peak! Racing at high speeds and understanding that the crazy speeds are in game only, is the fun part. Stunts and antics in a virtual world is what gives this genre it’s awesome entertainment. By the way there is more than one way to skin a cat. Controls to said games is a plus to the fun and it also is a: TOOL!
- Next is the famous RPG or Role Playing Game – This one is story driven, moral based and adventures like you can never experience in real life. Giving you choices and prizes for good choices. Of course choices based on moral value real value.
- Inventory managing, armor creation, defense of the people without power is a usual niche. Protecting the weak from villains, coming to the damsel in distress type of genre. Although not set in stone, it has intermingled with other genres. So in all it is a mental: TOOL!
- Also there is Shooters – A very popular genre. This is a typical run and gun type genre. But not necessarily tide to guns. Swords, wands and so forth are tide into the first person perspective. Or a personal view.
- Games in this genre are wildly popular in games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, ETC. So the control scheme means accuracy is king. Eye to Hand Coordination is what is trained in this genre. Military use of the tech and this point of view makes it an exceptional: TOOL!
- Lastly Now My favorite – Engineering sims – I like to challenge my mind. Real life is limited and has no redos. And here is the best part: Practice and repetition is how we as humans learn. Such a game is Keen Software House – Space Engineers.
- The critical situations you can build yourself into is very cool. Moreover Spaceship creation from nothing, finding solutions to logistics, setting up fuel lines, power generation, oxygen and hydrogen generation, ETC. This is the challenge. How many of us can come out with a creative solution to a unique problem without enginuity? And How do we gain this skill? Like I have been stating, Video Games are: TOOLS!
New level to Learning…..
As tech grows, so does the tools of the trait. Likewise, VR or Virtual Reality was a dream in the 80’s. Just like cell phones. The VR headset is one hell of a tool. Immersive, realistic, fast paced decision making action! Moreover, This is such a cool tech.
Tech Age….
You can say it is in itis in its baby Phase. However, this baby is growing up fast! So the addition of this tech makes Video Games a Powerful Tool!

- Improve your eye to hand coordination
- Pain management – entertain the mind away from pain. Mind over matter.
- Cognitive training
- Helps to alleviates mental Health stresses as a treatment
Skeptics… they are everywhere!
However, Not everyone is able to master gaming skills. As a result they criticize it. However, Learning to game is not limited to children only. Adults can join in as well! However Some would still go to lengths as to say: ” Video games are a money pit!” Or ” It’s a danger to our children!” As a result, Let me just say two things in this regard…
- firstly, Video games are a money pit? So is makeup, tools, toys, medicine, cars and everything that can be sold under the sun. So taking responsibility in your money spending is up to the individual.
- If you cannot afford it then nothing is to be said. But consoles is a cheaper version and PC is a High end version of gaming. Oh and VR is a niche market that only futurist see value in.
- Second Video games a danger to children?! Who buy the children their toys? Who works to give the children these video games to distract them? Well guess what?
- There is a rating system that if you as a parent don’t pay attention to is your fault your child turns into a nuke! Take responsibility for your failure as a parent, AND BE BETTER!
My Conclusion…..
I can Go on forever. What I have written in this article is my observation. My experience. The behavior of our children is solely in our form of education towards the kids.
